Job Description :
Production Engineering Manager responsibilities include leading the Manufacturing Engineering activities involving the design of manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machines and material handling. Manages the development of manufacturing and maintenance processes that are applicable to the manufacturing and new product development. Provides guidance to engineering and maintenance technicians on day to day tasks and work assignments. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations for our business to include city, state and federal standards. Production Engineering Manager will oversee and manage the maintenance software, preventive maintenance and spare parts inventories in a manner that is in alignment with TPS (Toyota Production Systems) and Total Predictive Maintenance.
A look at your day-to-day
Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the maintenance and engineering teams
Develop staff skills in lean thinking, problem solving and leadership
Work closely with quality personnel to review process capability and product consistency while working to improve capacity and reduce defects
Review established maintenance / PM schedules and timings to give the best performance and longest life
Coordinate the hiring and training of all maintenance and engineering personnel
Monitor operation expenses and implement cost savings.
Work closely you team to be aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees
Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives
Develop and execute the maintenance and engineering budgets
Analyze workforce capabilities and requirements. Create and implement a development plan for maintenance and engineering personnel.
Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all maintenance and engineering employees
Encourage and recognize lean thinking and continuous improvement
Work with procurement partners to develop and improve supplier relationships
Create purchase orders and capital expenditures request
Communicate with New Product Development team as well as the manufacturing management team to develop new product strategies
Now for a little bit about you….
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred. Advanced degree in engineering desired.
5+ years progressive experience in a key maintenance or engineering management role at a manufacturing facility
Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access) to analyze data and trends
Previous experience/best practices implementing and using Lean and the Toyota Production Systems
Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
Previous experience with strict Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines at the City, State, and Federal levels
Experience with PLC and systems repair and improvements
Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance engineering and maintenance needs
Bilingual communication ability in English and Spanish is preferred.
