    Summary:
    Production Technician/Carpenter engages in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment of an industrial plant in the sign printing and manufacturing process. Assists on production projects including carpentry, milling, assembly, and fabrication.

    This position is a full time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position. Hours are: Sun-Thurs 7pm - 3:30am

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    -- Safely operate power tools, saws, and other woodworking/end mill equipment.
    -- Ability to use mathematical skills required to determine appropriate measurements when building/working on projects.
    -- Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware.
    -- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
    -- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustment or repair.
    -- Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts.
    -- Replace defective parts with new parts, or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
    -- Assemble and test machines to verify correction of malfunction.
    -- Orders parts for machines and may be responsible for correspondence with outside vendors.
    -- Motivates and encourages teamwork within the department to ensure productivity targets are met.
    -- Keeps managers and foremen informed of important matters as appropriate.

    Qualifications:

    Education and/or Experience:
    -- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 2 years' manufacturing experience required; OR equivalent combination of education in Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology and/or industrial manufacturing experience.
    -- One year in a leadership capacity desired.
    -- Experience in carpentry or woodwork is required
    -- Experience in maintenance, repair, construction preferred and a plus

    Computer Skills:
    -- Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs and applications for word processing, email, database management and spreadsheets.

    Mathematical Skills:
    -- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability:
    -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems.
